Scenic Hotel Bay of Islands

The staff were amazing, always helpful, friendly and smiling, and room service was great every day. It's family friendly, with delicious kai, a great pool and the beach close by. We loved coming back here to relax after a long day. This will always be our first choice of accommodation in Paihia. Spectacular place!

The waterfront location was fantastic, and the staff were very friendly. Aaron deserves a special mention for being so helpful throughout our stay. We enjoyed our time and would consider returning, but there were some real challenges for our family. The pillows were uncomfortable and could do with replacing. Dinner had no vegetarian options, so our parents, who are pure vegetarians, had to go out to eat. The second day's breakfast buffet wasn't much better, with so few vegetarian choices that they were left with bread, butter or hash browns.

Breakfast at the hotel restaurant was very good, especially the delicious bacon. The Scenic is just a few minutes' walk from the centre of Paihia, and we had an excellent one-night stay. Aaron, the manager, was friendly and efficient. Our large room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, with two excellent beds. The bathroom stood out, with plenty of space and a big shower with excellent water pressure. The air conditioning was quiet and efficient. Definitely recommended.

We planned to stay one night while attending Savour Northland Food Frenzy, but stormy weather led to flight cancellations and we ended up staying two. Aaron and the team were a pleasure to deal with and very accommodating. The gardens were stunning, and our large, spotless room was well appointed, with a small balcony where we could sit and listen to the birds. The buffet breakfasts were generous and more than enough for us. Nothing disappointed during our stay. We'd highly recommend it for a welcoming holiday in pleasant surroundings.
