Tombstone Motel, Lodge & Backpackers

For an overnight stay in Picton, The Tombstone Motel was just right. The room was clean, the bathrooms were immaculate, and the kitchen facilities were great. There’s also a lovely, clean spa pool. Gary was very friendly and full of useful information. It’s only a few minutes from the ferry terminal, so getting there and back was stress-free.

The breakfast is simple, but the warm, fresh homemade bread was absolutely delicious. The bathrooms were spotless, and the shower had great pressure. Everything was well organized and very well cared for, from the extremely clean rooms and common areas to the lovely spa pool, which was perfect for relaxing after a long day. Tombstone Motel in Picton is a fantastic place to stay. Highly recommend!

Gary was very welcoming, and I loved the fun graveyard theme. My only small disappointment was leaving too early for breakfast, because the scones sounded amazing. Maybe toast and spreads could be left out for early departures. I was only here briefly before catching the early morning ferry to Wellington, but it was a great place to rest. The double caravan was cosy and comfortable, and the facilities were brilliant, clean, and well equipped. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the town centre and just a two-minute drive to the ferry terminal, so I could sleep as long as possible before check-in.

If you’re after somewhere clean and simple near town with a bit of character, this place is great value. It’s hard to get closer to the ferry terminal. The shower pressure in the family room was great, and breakfast was included. When we came around the corner and saw the cemetery and Tombstone Motel, the kids absolutely cracked up. It was hilarious.
