It's a handy place to stay for a couple of nights before the ferry, and there's no city-centre parking fee. The room was clean and felt safe, though it was small. A bunk and a single bed took up most of it. I was on my own, so it worked, but there was barely anywhere to store things apart from under the bed. Facilities are minimal, so bring your own cutlery and cookware. As another reviewer put it, it feels "not loved."
The campsite is well equipped, with lots of facilities, including laundry and BBQ areas, and the staff are really friendly. It's a solid top 10. The downside is that it's a bit outside Wellington, so getting to Te Papa museum and the CBD isn't ideal, especially if Te Papa is on your list. It really is a must-do.
Everything was clean, and the staff were very friendly. The facilities were top notch: a huge laundry room with a big folding table and ironing stations, though each machine takes $6 in $2 coins; huge showers with a changing area, bench and mirror; and a large kitchen and BBQ area.
The rain was horrific and flooded most of the sites, but luckily we had a massive campervan. The bathrooms and kitchens were super clean, and the amenities were great. There's a games room for the kids and a hot tub you can book for colder or miserable days. As always with a Top10, it was a nice stay. It's a bit farther from Wellington than I'd prefer, but I guess having a holiday park in the middle of a big, growing capital city would be difficult.
The staff were really nice and helpful. I stayed one night in a bunk cabin during the off season, and liked the location, though traffic can get loud in this fairly busy area. The cabin felt homely, with a good-sized table and stool for eating. The metal bunk beds squeaked a lot, and bedding wasn’t supplied. The door locks by itself when you shut it, so don’t leave your key inside.
