The Heart of Rotorua

Once I got inside my unit, I was pleasantly surprised. It was cute and cosy, with lots of little snacks waiting for me. I had worried at first when I arrived: there was no sign advertising the place, and the green-coloured walls weren't to my taste. A case of not judging a book by its cover.

The room was moldy, disgusting, and unhygienic. There was no proper seating for a meal, just one old little table with dirt on it. The photos on the site made the place look fabulous and showed lots of things, but the real place was totally different. I couldn't upload my photos, or I'd show what I mean. I wouldn't book it for a family, especially with a baby, without seeing it in person. I paid $310 for the night after booking online based on a description saying the whole house was rented. When we got there, it was a tiny room with no facilities, not suitable for us with our little baby. The manager, who I also refer to as the landlord, was unprofessional and rude when I called. She said she'd refund $150 if we left within 10 minutes because we didn't like the place. Later, we lost $210 in cancellation fees, and an email claimed we hadn't shown up. That wasn't true.

For the price, the flat is really good quality. I'd highly recommend it to anyone after an affordable and comfortable place to stay.

Just right for what we needed, this little studio was close to town without being too close. Free laundry, plus some complimentary goodies.
