The people there were so welcoming, and the location worked perfectly for us. Our apartment was spotless and had everything we needed, and the pool area was especially lovely. We had a wonderful time at Captain Motels and would definitely come back. Highly recommend it!

The shower pressure was weak, and the upstairs guests and their barking dogs could be heard clearly because the soundproofing was poor. For the price, this is a basic, clean motel with few amenities. The lawns could do with a mow for accommodation at this price.

We could walk into town, yet the place was quiet, and hearing kiwi and weka at night was amazing. Tristan was warm and friendly and made things easy and comfortable. The rooms have been freshly refurbished and are lovely, and the pool area is wonderful. An amazing place to stay.

Our family had a great time in the pool, using the BBQ and enjoying the gardens. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the location made it a short walk to town and the beaches. James & Wendy were top notch hosts. Just days before Christmas, they unexpectedly and generously upgraded our room. This review is several months late, but well deserved. It was excellent value, and we highly recommend Motel Russell. We hope to return someday.

We appreciated that the motel was dog friendly, and James and Wendy made us feel very welcome and looked after us well. Our two bedroom unit was clean, tidy, quiet, and had everything we could ask for. Town, restaurants, and shops were an easy walk away. The pool looked inviting, so we'll try it next time. We’ll definitely come back and highly recommend the motel. Thanks, James and Wendy.
