Anchorstone

The night sky was a highlight, with no light pollution, so you could see the stars and even the southern lights. People staying in the next lodge also managed to spot a kiwi outside. Each cabin comes with its own Suzuki to use for free, which was the icing on the cake. Bill was friendly and helpful with suggestions for things to do and places to eat. We were travelling around New Zealand for six weeks and made a point of visiting Stewart Island. The lodge was very comfortable, with heating, A/C and a smart TV. There’s a separate cabin for laundry, with a dryer, and a place to clean your boots. We had a great stay and would love to return one day.

The kākā dropping by on my balcony was a lovely bonus. During my peaceful two-night stay, the cabin had everything I could have needed, and access to the car let me reach every part of the island I wanted to see. Bill was a wonderful host. I couldn’t speak more highly of my time at Anchorstone.

The little car made getting around much easier, and the cabin itself was very comfortable. Bill was welcoming, picked us up at the ferry and shared plenty of local knowledge. The gingernuts were a nice touch too.

Bill picked us up when we arrived and dropped us off again when we left. The unit was great, with a beautiful outlook in a fabulous location. There’s a car available to get around in, which was handy and very reasonably priced.
