The setting really opens up once you walk around back to the big open deck. We arrived a little confused, but out there it felt magical. We picked up fish and chips instead of going out for tea and ate them on the comfy couch, with the creek right there and mature trees and ferns all around. The pigeons, tui and other birds are lovely to listen to. Even the toilet and bathroom bring you close to nature with floor-to-ceiling windows, while still keeping things completely private. Tasteful decor, and a remarkable location.

Birdsong was what we woke up to, with the nearby stream making a soothing sound throughout the day. I loved the shower's full glass window looking out over the bush and water, it made me feel close to nature. This pretty little lodge is about a ten-minute drive south of central Takaka, and the room was comfortable and just right for a couple. The owner was friendly too. A welcome change from the concrete jungle, and I'd recommend it.

We could hear the river running by, and even had the chance to make a bonfire. Everything was clean and tidy, and it's near the city centre. This has been our best NZ stay so far, we had a really amazing time and would recommend it. Thank you!

A stream runs below the deck, which was a lovely touch. The place was very clean, tidy and well equipped. We had a very nice stay and would happily recommend it for a couples getaway.
