Fiordland Eco-Retreat

We’ll remember the sunset soaks in the hot tub, morning coffee on the deck and visits from the pups for a long time. The views were some of the best I’ve seen in years of travelling. Susanna welcomed us like old friends, and I’m so grateful she shared her property with us. Everything we needed was there, from cooking and coffee gear to extra blankets, towels, coolers and breakfast basics. It’s also only about a five-minute drive to downtown.

Susanna was friendly, helpful and quick to answer our questions, and the house was a comfortable base for a few wonderful days at Fiordland Eco Retreat. We were close to town and reasonably near Lake Manapouri, but far enough away to enjoy peaceful surroundings. The view was amazing. I’d highly recommend this home for a stay in Te Anau.

We really enjoyed our two nights at Fiordland EcoRetreat, especially the dark-sky experience and the striking views. Susanna, Glenn and their family made us feel welcome, and the eco-conscious design added to what makes this place special. We only wish we’d stayed longer.

The accommodation was clean, well laid out and in a perfect spot, with everything we needed and some extras we hadn’t thought of. Each morning, the view over Te Anau and the surrounding mountains was breathtaking, like something from a brochure. Susanna and Glenn were incredibly accommodating as we celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary and renewed our vows. We’d been planning the trip for 18 months, after having to cancel at the last minute the year before when the borders closed, and they were understanding about our situation. This place is a must-stay destination.
