Te Anau Lakefront Backpackers

After long days hiking, having a properly equipped kitchen made cooking easy, and the beds were warm and really comfortable. The common spaces felt cozy, whether you wanted to chat with other travelers or sit quietly and enjoy the view. From the moment I arrived, the place felt welcoming and relaxed. One of the highlights of my trip. Thanks, guys!

We’d booked a glamping tent, but a king room became available through a cancellation when we arrived, so we upgraded. It was cute and very clean, and the front desk staff were helpful at check-in. We were only there overnight on the way to Milford, so didn’t use the shared spaces or other facilities. The lake path is right outside and was lovely for a stroll. Two friendly cats made the visit extra nice: one met us in the parking lot, and the other said goodbye the next morning. Both were happy to get head scratches.

The reception staff were ready to help with whatever I needed, and my room was clean and comfortable. The lobby’s common area has a lovely view of the lake right out the window, which was a nice place to relax. You’re beside the lake, and both Fresh Choice and Four Square are under a 10-minute walk away. Kepler Track is only a five-minute drive. A convenient spot for a restful visit.

We had a quiet stay, with town just a short walk away. The staff were all really friendly, and the lounge overlooking the lake was a lovely place for morning coffee or to read when it rained. Our lakefront room was recently renovated, cosy, spacious, and had a great view. It had what we needed to be comfortable. The shared areas were tidy and got cleaned throughout the day.
