Arran invited us to pick fruit from the trees in the morning, and the oranges were perfect. I really liked staying in the signal box, with its high ceilings and nice decor. From the bed, we had a fabulous view over the whole river and valley. There's a cycle path to the sea right outside, so it seems like a lovely place for a weekend.

That quiet outlook was just what I needed after a work trip. I was only there for one night on my own, but the setting was so relaxing I felt revived. You can hear the highway across the river, yet I found that reminder of the world on the other side strangely meditative. Amazing place.

There are chickens, ducks, cows and fruit trees, and the owners are kind. The riverside setting just north of Whanganui is stunning, with such a restful 180-degree view. The Signal Box has been renovated beautifully, with lovely taste and attention to detail. We'll certainly come back.

One lovely little box, with wide views across the fields and river. It's immaculate, furnished to a really high standard, and warm, quiet and private. Great for self-catering. There's wifi but no TV, and stairs lead up to the verandah.

The beds are fantastic, and the wifi is good. There's no TV, which is fine for a place to properly chill out. We love it here and are definitely coming back. Awesome spot.
