The staff were fantastic, friendly, and knew their stuff. The location is hard to beat, too. Our room was very spacious, though it looked dated and a bit worn. It had no air conditioning, and when the wind picked up, the noise coming through the open windows was loud. The old fashioned shower could use more shelf space for personal toiletries. It would also be better to have refillable bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel instead of soft packages and single use soap. We considered the buffet breakfast, but after seeing it we passed. For the same price, it's very basic compared with breakfasts at other places.

The location was the one thing we liked. The room was uncomfortable, with no air conditioning and windows that barely opened. The bed was extremely lumpy, one of the worst we've slept on, and my back is still feeling it. Everything looked tired and badly in need of an update. We barely slept because the road and city noise was awful. The shower kept switching between hot and cold, and the taps leaked. At checkout, nobody even asked how our stay had gone. We wouldn't stay here again.

The view was just like the pictures, and I had no issues with my room. Staff at the Bay Plaza Hotel were friendly and welcoming, and the location is great, with everything within walking distance. I'd like to stay here again next time I'm in Wellington.

Our booking through Booking.com was very reasonably priced for the quality and location. The reception ladies were welcoming, really friendly, and helpful whenever we needed something. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well looked after, with attached bathrooms and useful things like an iron and tea and coffee facilities. We had beautiful harbour-facing views, especially from Room 806 and 906, which were a real highlight. A small thing that would improve the rooms is complimentary bottled water. I had a wonderful stay at The Bay Plaza Hotel and would highly recommend it for the views, comfort, and service.

It’s only about a five minute walk to te Papa museum, and the view was fantastic. The hotel was clean, and the shower was one of the best I've had in a hotel for someone tall like me. People may have different experiences, but I liked the place. The bathroom could use modernising, and the windows don't always keep the wind out. Even so, I think the price and quality are worth it.
