The room for four was cramped, and the bathroom felt dated. The rooms could use a significant upgrade, so it’s fine for one night but not ideal for a longer stay in their current condition. The location and overall service were decent during my overnight visit to Wellington.

Our room was compact but worked well, and the bed was soooooo comfy. We even had a coffee machine in there. We booked the Valentines Special with the four course dinner at Frankie’s. The food was superb, the staff were really attentive, and we never felt rushed. We’ll definitely come back to stay or try one of the weekly dinner specials.

The rooms are okay, though small, and the hotel is handy for walking to the main train station. The area around it feels lifeless. There isn’t a lounge for people who don’t want to sit in their tiny room, and the foyer and bar aren’t comfortable places to hang out. The metal lip at the shower floor caught my toes and scraped one. Wind coming through gaps in the windows also made my room noisy.

There’s no air con, so I probably wouldn’t choose this place in peak summer, though the fans helped and it was still a great stay. Heaters are available for winter. The beds were comfortable, and the hotel is in a prime spot, with parking options and easy central access to the waterfront. You can add the buffet breakfast, which was pretty tasty. For the price, it’s definitely worth staying.

The restaurant food was delicious and worth trying, and the staff were friendly and professional. I had a really pleasant stay at the WQ Hotel in Wellington. My room was quiet and comfortable, with one of the best beds I’ve slept in. A great place for a relaxing stay in the city. I’ll definitely be back!
