Continental Motel

The location was excellent, close to supermarkets, restaurants, the basin, bus stops, and other amenities. I also appreciated the useful information booklet with local menus and attractions. The kitchen was well equipped with an oven, stove, microwave, kettle, and plunger, and tea and coffee were free. The aircon worked well without blowing straight at the bed, and the bin was tucked away to discourage flies. The reception lady was very friendly when I arrived, gave me milk, and explained the pool, cleaning, internet, and general rules. Paying online was easy too. The bed was high enough to get in and out of easily, with fine pillows and a fine blanket, although it was very hard. The curtains were too narrow, so one side always let in light. It was noisy at all hours, with car doors and people driving about, loud kids left unattended at the pool, and a neighbour playing music late and then waking me at 7am with screaming, swearing, and blaring music. I complained to reception, but since I was checking out, I don't think they cared much. The advertised Sky had sports channels I had no interest in and only about five or seven other channels. The wifi was awful, so I used my own data all weekend. The parking was very tight and short, and I had to maneuver around tow bars and rear bumpers. Most disappointing was the room advertised as accessible. As an older, larger person with mobility issues, I was willing to pay extra for it, but there was nothing accessible except no stairs. The doorway had a lip my wheeled walker had to be lifted over, the gap between the bed and table was too narrow for it, and the deep sofa was hard to get in and out of. The shower was tiny and its door didn't seal. The water pressure was great, but it sprayed through the gap across the bathroom and kitchen floors, right up to the living room carpet. When I mopped it up with a towel, the towel came away black, so the floors must have been very dirty. There was no handrail at the pool, and I needed another guest's help getting in and out. The spa was in the ground, so I couldn't get in or out. I only booked because it was listed as accessible, and that description created an expectation that wasn't met at all. Overall, a really disappointing stay.

Continental Motel works well for us. There’s no trouble parking, and each room has what we need. It’s also close to places to eat.

The price was very good, the rooms were exceptionally clean, and I loved how cold the fridge kept our drinks. The hostess was friendly. We had a big ute and were lucky the place wasn't busy, since the little car parks might not have fitted it otherwise. Would definitely stay again.
