Safari Desert Camp

The evening was the part that really stayed with me: dinner under the stars, tasty local food, live music, and a fire. The tents were comfortable and clean, with traditional touches alongside modern comforts. The dunes and sunset were beautiful, and the welcome from the staff felt genuinely warm. A magical stay.

My refund is still unpaid months later, and my emails have gone unanswered since 15 April 2026. A bank investigation confirmed the camp had received my original payment, which was later found in the hotel’s own records. At check-in, though, Safari Desert Camp said it hadn’t received the money and made me pay again. Since the camp is far out in the desert and controls guest transport, I didn’t feel I had a realistic way to refuse. Even after I showed three different receipts, I was repeatedly questioned about the payment during my stay. What should have been a restful trip became stressful and uncomfortable. You can decide whether that’s acceptable customer service.

The cultural performances and traditional dinner made the visit memorable. We also enjoyed the beautiful views, welcoming hospitality, and fun activities. It was a magical break from the city, and I’d happily recommend it.

We went for New Year’s expecting desert quiet and a feeling of being mostly on our own. Instead, there was a DJ and we had to pay another 50 rial for loud, irritating trance and electronic music in the middle of the desert. It felt culturally irrelevant and not at all suited to a desert New Year’s stay. This was part of a tour booking, but I’d strongly advise against these camps. It was expensive, and this one was especially disappointing because of the management’s choices. Renting camping gear and hiring a guide would be cheaper and, in my view, much nicer.
