Hotel Aloft Muscat

The missing basics and the way my concerns were handled made this stay exhausting. After I finally got to my room, there were no amenities. Erick told me they were all available on request, but even after I explained what I needed, housekeeping said they hadn’t been told. I ended up waiting twice for the items to arrive. There were no face towels or bathrobes, so bring your own unless you’re comfortable using hand towels on your face. I’d already spent almost an hour trying to check in at 10 pm. When I went back to reception, I was told the manager, Erick, was in his cabin and too comfortable there to come out while I waited. After I mentioned the missing items, he went to inspect the room without me, as if I might not be telling the truth. He never apologized for the shortcomings. Later, after I asked to speak with his manager, Erick called me again and argued with me, then offered complimentary breakfast as though it were a huge favor. I’d already asked for breakfast to be included in my bill when checking in. As a loyal Bonvoy customer, I found this Marriott stay deeply disappointing. The service and staff attitude were poor, and dealing with them took a lot out of me. It’s left me wary of choosing Marriott or another property under the same umbrella on future trips, especially when I can choose other international chains.

The rooftop heated pool was such a treat, and breakfast was another surprise, with lots of choice and plenty to eat. Everyone on staff was welcoming, and check-in was friendly, helpful, and easy. The hotel feels modern and well thought out. My room was spacious, bright, and clean, with proper blackout curtains that worked really well. The equipment was all new, including fast USB charging and plenty of outlets. If you need to be near the airport, it’s probably the best option around. It’s less than a 10-minute drive away.

Great room, quick service, and an awesome breakfast. The hotel is close to the airport, too. One thing to know about taxis: calling one from the hotel can cost almost five times more than walking 100 feet down the road and hailing a cab. The hotel itself was wonderful.

We had a great time here. Breakfast was delicious, with a good selection, and there’s complimentary underground parking. The location worked well for us, close to the airport. Our room was clean, and the staff were really friendly. There’s also a nice place to relax in the lobby, with a pool table. I’d recommend staying here.
