Nima guest house

Hossein is kind, knows Nizwa well and is always happy to answer questions. The hostel feels friendly, calm and clean. We stayed two nights at Nima Hostel, which I’d confidently call one of the best and coolest hostels in Nizwa. It’s a five-minute walk to the city center, with charming alleyways to wander through at night.

The location is great, about a 10-minute walk from the souq, fort and historical Nizwa, and it’s quiet enough for a good night’s sleep. The bed was comfortable, the AC worked well, and there’s a fan too if the AC gets too cold. I was upgraded to room 7 after asking for powerful WiFi so I could work, and the connection there was EXCELLENT. There’s also a wonderfully grumpy Persian cat who I looooove. Laundry costs only 1 rial, there’s a supermarket just around the corner, and there’s a separate kitchen for sundries. The only downsides for me were the combined shower and bathroom, and that they only take cash. The floor does dry super quick in the hot weather.

We had a room on the roof and got the roof terrace to ourselves, which was lovely. The setting is quiet and green, with bushes and birds, just outside the city center. The room was nice, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was good too.

The rooms were nice and clean, and parking was available. It’s in a prominent area, with all places within walking distance.
