Al Wadi Hotel Sohar

The peaceful location is a plus, with shops and main roads easy to reach. I found the rooms decent for a short visit, though nothing special, and the unclean pool was a disappointment. I stayed at Al Wadi Hotel, Sohar, and it felt average overall. Better upkeep, especially around the pool, could make it better value.

I’d think twice about eating here. The security guard shouted at us and harassed us over a small packet of chips we’d brought from outside, worth maybe 50 baiza, even though we’d already paid 130 Rials for food. He said it didn’t matter if we spent 100, 500, or 1000 Rials, we still couldn’t eat 50 baiza chips or a 25 baiza chocolate inside. I’ve been a regular customer and probably spent more than 500 OMR here in the last 20 days, so I didn’t expect this treatment. The guards in Sohar are the worst, with no manners or respect for customers, and no one seems to manage their behavior. One waiter from Goa, India, with a tattoo on his hand, openly told us, "If you want to come, come. If not, get lost." There was no customer service, decency, or appreciation for loyal customers. Such disgusting behavior over something petty, after we’d supported the business so much. Very bad experience.

The hotel is old, and the air circulation and ventilation in the rooms need improvement. Aside from that, I found it a good place to stay. Service was very nice, breakfast had a reasonably good variety, and there was plenty of parking. The pool view is right in front of the door, and sitting by the pool in the evening is pleasant. It’s a nice, calm place.

The breakfast was pathetic, and they still didn’t bring water or coffee after I asked. The room itself was extremely clean and quiet, with a lovely view of the pool, and the lobby gave me good vibes as soon as I walked in. The Christmas decorations were great, with a huge tree, probably the tallest in oman 😅
