Schumann’s Resort & Park

A lovely place for kids, with beautiful plants. They take in injured animals, care for them while they recover, then release them back into nature.

I used to volunteer here back when it was Paradise Gardens & Wildlife Rescue Center. Nearly a decade later, I returned during visiting hours and found the gate open, so I went in. I have fond memories from before the transition and had heard that the new owners had transformed the place nicely, so I wanted to look around and see what had changed. When I approached the front to ask whether there was a visitor fee, the staff member I met was extremely rude and unfriendly, and I felt unsafe. The workers, all men, said the managers weren’t there. Without explaining anything, they stared me down while holding construction tools until I left. It was confusing and unfortunate. I hope this isn’t a common experience.

Claudia is a wonderful person and a perfect host. She does all she can to make you comfortable, and the room’s personal touches made it feel especially welcoming. The property is beautiful, with birds, monkeys, lovely landscaping, and views that are second to none. It’s an easy trip into town while still being away from the busy strip. I had a wonderful stay at Schumann’s Resort and will absolutely return when I’m back in Boquete.

This was a peaceful, beautiful place, with gorgeous flowers and unusual plants you don’t normally see. One plant is said to help with stage 4 cancer, but be sure to discuss that with your medical doctor. They have a sloth, several kinds of birds, monkeys, and a jaguar. The animals are taken in until they can be released back into their habitat. There’s also a restaurant on site, but it was being updated during our visit, so we couldn’t try it. Visits are by appointment only.
