We came back to nature here, with sloths, howler monkeys, and waves all around. It’s an eco resort, so there’s no air conditioning or hairdryers, but we were comfortable with the ocean breeze. Bluff Beach is quiet and beautiful, and there are a few restaurants and bars along the dirt road. Town is about a 20 minute, very bumpy taxi ride away. They also run as a bed and breakfast when there isn’t a retreat. Our group of 17 had the whole place for a weeklong yoga retreat organized by Solseed Retreats. I shared Tortuga, a room for three, with two friends. We were just steps from the pool and a little farther from the beach. Mariposa, a queen room, and similar rooms are scattered among the rustic houses. I was glad we were near the pool. Augusto managed Bluff Beach beautifully and was available around the clock. Nicole cooked for us all week, making fresh, varied meals and taking care of the three guests who needed gluten free food, including me. We also had a massage therapist, Maria, recommended to us. She came to the property and stayed busy all week, giving massages in a lovely private outdoor spot. Our rooms were cleaned every day and were comfortable and very clean. I’d come back.

The beach right in front is beautiful, though the waves get big. Walking around the peaceful property, we spotted sloths, birds, and monkeys. You can hear the animals and the waves, which made it such a pleasant stay, and breakfast was amazing. This was the highlight of our whole trip to Panama.

We stayed nearly a week with our two kids, and the people and hotel were wonderful. The garden is lovely, with plenty of wildlife to look for, and the rooms are spacious. There’s also a very nice pool. The beach is an untouched stretch, though the waves can be rough, so swimming isn’t always suitable. A few restaurants nearby on either side give you lunch and dinner choices without needing to go into town.

The retreat looks just like its photos, and we had a magical week there. My mom and I loved the little resident cats, the sloths, and the monkeys during our stay. We hired Nicole, a delightful local chef who makes delicious food with local ingredients. The staff were attentive to details, and we had excellent locally sourced coffee and breakfasts. The onsite manager also arranged transport and excursions and took great care of us. We enjoyed biking to La Piscina and walking to nearby restaurants. Thanks, Bluff Beach Retreat!

The pool was such a hit with our kids that it was hard to get them out! We also spent hours watching monkeys and other wildlife around the property. Bluff Beach Retreat was an amazing stay that exceeded what we expected. It’s family friendly and away from the town’s noise and party scene, right across from the beautiful beach and its crashing waves. The staff were welcoming and helpful. We can’t wait to return with the family.
