The private room was $40, with no A/C, though the fan worked well. You can also rent a tent, and there’s an equipped kitchen plus a dining area. The bathroom smelled bad, but the shower was good. The place costs less than others, but it’s not walkable to town, so expect to pay $1 each way for a taxi. Bring some mosquito protection.

We stayed in a tent and it worked out great for us. The facilities were clean, the price was the best for somewhere this nice, and the atmosphere was friendly. The owner is a genuinely funny, authentic person. It’s a bit far from town, so you’ll need to take a taxi or walk for about an hour. I’d definitely recommend it.

The only sour part of my trip to Bocas was staying at this Hostal. Staff were nowhere to be found, and we were a long way from the Bocas Urban Area, with lonely, poorly lit streets around us. The room smelled strongly and hadn’t been cleaned properly, with cheese and plantain peels on the bed. Cats wandered through the kitchen, where vegetables were rotting in the fridge and cleanliness was lacking. The bathroom had the same dirt, soap marks, and stains for all five days we stayed. I took the pictures on our last day because I couldn’t believe it was still as dirty as when we arrived.

The hostel had a really nice vibe, and I especially liked the outdoor seating area. I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend trying a tent here.

It’s $1 by taxi to get into town. The hostel itself is nice, but it would’ve been much better if the owners had been around sometimes. There were lots of mosquitoes, and no fly screen over the bed. Toilets were okay, but the only shower was outside. Its shower head was broken for six days, with no replacement.
