The room rate was high, and for that price we expected much better. We were backpacking in Bocas for four nights shortly after New Year. Our first hotel couldn’t fit us for an extra night, so after booking about a month ahead, we reserved Vista Mar. The last-minute change made it fairly expensive, but the standard and service didn’t live up to the cost. The hotel feels worn and shabby in both the bedrooms and shared spaces. On day three, we noticed water leaking from the ceiling onto the electric shower in our bathroom. We were told we’d have to switch rooms for the last night, but no one offered anything for the inconvenience. Breakfast came quickly and was included, but things were often left out or the drinks were wrong.

The rooms have a bit of a retro feel, which I actually liked :) The Christmas decorations were amazing, and the staff were really good, helpful, and easygoing. They also let us check in before 15h, which helped us a lot.

We had a good four-night stay at this simple hotel. Nice location, a dock with a sea view, and staff who were happy to accommodate us. The $3 cocktails during happy hour were nice. We also got a late checkout at 4pm for an extra $10.

The terrace faces the sea and has beautiful views, and you can walk into Bocas town. They make nice cocktails, but service was extremely slow. Our room was awful. The AC was so loud we couldn’t hear each other talk, and the small balcony had no chairs. The rooms really need renovating.

We came back every day for dinner and cocktails. The food was amazing, especially the soups and seafood, and the Margaritas were the best we had. The restaurant is lovely, with great sunsets, drinks, food, and staff. Malena and Rachel were so lovely, the best!!!! Thank you so much, Malena and Rachel! A big hug from Conny and Marty 🥰😘😘😘
