The beach is beautiful and shouldn’t be just for surfers. Twice, the two hostel owners were horrible and super arrogant, refusing us an overnight stay in their very basic accommodation. They made customers feel as if they were being judged as future professional surf talent. They cancelled a reservation we’d made because they supposedly “weren’t feeling the vibes” with us, or for some other flimsy reason. Five years ago, they also seemed displeased by our lack of surfer-ness while we enjoyed the beach. They claimed the beach was private, which was false, since all Panamanian beaches are public. I wish this supposedly private beach paradise, which apparently isn’t for surfers only, were more welcoming to ordinary people.
