Inka House Inn

Breakfast was a letdown compared with other hotels nearby: just cereal and a small amount of fruit, while the eggs on display were apparently not for guests. The passport copies taken at check-in were later reused for signs and other odds and ends around the hotel, which raised a serious privacy concern for us. Both bathrooms had plenty of mold. We had booked two rooms. The first had a sewage backup, so we were moved, but the replacement had no hot water at first, though they fixed it later. The second room was in better shape, but its bathroom was so cramped that using the toilet comfortably meant leaving the door open. The stay left a lot to be desired.

The location was the one real plus, and the fresh papaya juice was nice. Coffee was warm, and there was an okay choice of tea to brew. The rest of the breakfast was poor quality: bread, margarine instead of butter, little bits of salty cheese and ham, and some 'marmalade'. We stayed one night with a baby after an agency included the hotel in our Machu Picchu trip, so I don't know what they paid. But if it costs a medium-high price when booked independently, I don't think it's worth it. Our third-floor room offered little privacy, and the worn furniture and fittings seemed close to breaking. I wouldn't recommend it for a family stay.

Nobody in our group of five got any sleep. People were coming and going loudly at all hours, and the noise carried into every room. The bathrooms were tiny and dirty, with mold in both the bathroom and bedroom.
