The biggest issue for us was the Wi-Fi. We had an important video interview and needed a steady connection, but it kept dropping even though our phones showed they were connected. The staff member working that evening kindly tried restarting the router, but it didn't solve it. The next morning, another employee said the Wi-Fi worked where he was and dismissed our concern. When my partner returned to reception, he blamed our iPhones and said this was normal in Arequipa. That didn't match our experience, since two other hotels afterward had no Wi-Fi trouble. We were offered a move to a ground-floor room near reception, despite having already shown the connection failed there too. We asked for a refund for the two nights we had left, but the employee wouldn't discuss it and said it wasn't the hotel's fault. We eventually left without compensation or understanding from the hotel, even though our booking showed a partial refund might be possible. Booking.com contacted the property as well, but no solution was offered. The room situation wasn't good either. The first room had no working Wi-Fi and faced the street, where construction and traffic were very loud. Moving rooms helped with the noise, but not the internet. Thin curtains let in daylight and woke us around 6:00 a.m., and the bed faced the glass entrance door, so hallway light came in all night. The gentleman on duty that first evening was kind and genuinely tried to help. For other options nearby, we can recommend Selva Alegre boutique hotel for its value and lovely staff, or Ariquepay boutique hotel.

Breakfast was generous and complete, and the bed was fantastic. The room and bathroom were immaculate, including the shower. It's a good base in Arequipa: quiet, away from the busy center, but only a few minutes from the main square.

Ana, the night receptionist, was the person who really made our stay easier. She was attentive, kind, and always checked whether we needed anything; she knew how to sort out our issues. One younger staff member wasn't very helpful, which disappointed me. We liked how easy it was to get around. The hotel is between the main square and several shopping centers, and we could walk to the square or take a taxi. They brought water and chocolates to our room. Daily cleaning was fine, though the new towels left a lot of lint. Breakfast was fantastic when eaten there, with yogurt, cereal, juice, bread, scrambled eggs made fresh with ham, plus ham, cheese, butter, and jam. For our early tour at 4-5 am, they kindly prepared a breakfast box. It was rather meager, just a white bread roll with ham, a piece of fruit, and a juice box. The sandwich could be better, but otherwise it was fine.

The elevator was out of order, and dust stirred up by the cleaning made my allergies flare. I also found it unhygienic that the cleaning staff didn't wear gloves and sometimes doubled up at reception while cleaning. There were several basic service problems during my stay. I paid for 5 nights and 4 days, but got only one complimentary bottle of water for the whole visit. There was no phone in the room, so contacting reception meant going downstairs. My room wasn't cleaned even after I asked, and the sheets weren't changed daily. The towels shed lots of lint, there were no blankets, only thin throws against the cold, and the TV picture was terrible. Breakfast was very poor and the same each day: ham, cheese, bread, two kinds of juice, and two kinds of yogurt. We also had to go to their other location to eat. They could improve several of these basics for guests.

The staff are attentive and very friendly, and the prices are reasonable. The towels leave a lot of lint, the sheets don't feel fresh, and the room gets hot during the day.
