La Compañia - Jerusalen

The hostel isn’t the most modern, but we had an incredible time. It was the best price we could find, the WiFi was strong, and the staff were ready to help with anything. Our room was clean, and the included breakfast was very simple but a nice extra for the price. I’d highly recommend it to budget backpackers.

We only stayed one night because we were traveling the next day, so we didn’t get to try breakfast in the patio. Our room for four was comfortable and clean, and suitable for kids, though moving around with a baby stroller isn’t easy. It’s a calm hotel, a welcome break from busy, noisy Arequipa, and it felt safe: the main door stays closed, and you ring for a friendly, welcoming woman to let you in. The staff were sweet and flexible, and let us see the room before we confirmed the reservation. I paid cash because there was a card fee, which sometimes happens in Peru. The hotel is central, on Callle Jerusalén, where only a few cars can go, so the street stays quiet. We could easily walk to the Plaza de Armas, Santa Catalina, and the nearby tourist shops.

The rooms were neat and clean, and I enjoyed breakfast and sitting at the patio tables. It’s just a short stroll to the Plaza de Armas.

The garden and Patio are really lovely, and the Wi-Fi worked pretty well. Breakfast was very basic, though. It's a beautiful hostel.
