Herbert is a very welcoming host and gave me plenty of good advice on what to see in Cajamarca and how to get around. The place is very basic, with little beyond bedrooms, a bathroom, and a kitchen. The bathrooms were very poorly cleaned, and you can hear everything in the neighboring rooms.
The location felt good and safe, and the bed was comfortable. There’s a fully equipped kitchen too. I stayed a week, and it was hard to leave. If you’re lucky enough to make this place your home for a while, you won’t regret it. Herbert welcomes you like a son and a friend, and shares lots of information and tips for exploring beautiful Cajamarca and its wonderful, still-unexplored surroundings. Herbert was lovely and friendly, and knows everything there is to know about visiting sites in the area. He even let me leave my things there for the day while I was passing through Cajamarca. The location is really nice, near a market and not too far from the center, on a quieter street.
We didn't get the private room we booked. The one we were given was nowhere near clean, the beds were still dirty from previous guests, and the bathroom wasn't private.
The owner was super friendly, and the place is excellent value for money. We loved the well-equipped kitchen, pleasant living area, and lovely rooftop terrace with a kitchen. It's on a quiet alley near the center. The bathroom could use a little more cleaning, and the gaps above the doors should be sealed since they're open and let sound through.
