El Samay Hotel Boutique

The room was very comfortable, the hotel is stunning, and the beach is lovely, but I wouldn’t risk staying here again. It’s a two-and-a-half-hour walk from Punta Sal, despite what the hotel’s location listing says, and there’s nothing else nearby, so you have to eat lunch and dinner at the hotel every day. About 80% of the menu is fish or seafood. I got food poisoning twice. The first time was from seafood; medication cleared it up pretty quickly. The second time, from ceviche, was horrendous. I was violently sick for hours and needed a drip at the medical centre. They kept denying it was food poisoning. They said the first meal had too many ingredients for my stomach to handle, and the second time they blamed the acid and gave me a laxative, which made everything much worse. With no nearby restaurants, eating here feels like a serious risk to your health. Avoid it and book somewhere else.

We had a wonderful five days here, my kids and I, and it’s a small place, just what we wanted. The people from Punta Sal are kind, generous, and honest, and the staff were all incredible. We ordered most of our meals from the restaurant and were happy with both the food quality and presentation. Thanks to the chef, Miguel Angel. We could eat on our balcony or in the dining areas around the property. They brought my coffee up early before my run, and I had breakfast with the kids later. Sr. Percy, Rosemary, Carolina, Miguel Angel, and all the other staff were so kind and generous. I hope the owners know how great they are. We’ll surely be back.

We enjoyed our stay. It’s a new hotel with just four rooms, on a nice stretch of beach. The pool is welcoming, and having the dining area outside is nice. The motorway is surprisingly close, though the noise didn’t intrude much.

The whole place felt peaceful, and we were delighted with our family stay at El Samay. It’s beautiful, clean, and welcoming, with comfortable rooms and delicious food. The female staff were attentive and friendly, and made us feel right at home. We’ll definitely come back.
