The people at El Abuelo Hotel made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. They were attentive and went out of their way to help whenever I needed something. I’d happily stay there again. Getting around was easy, with local restaurants, shops, and the bus terminal all within walking distance. It also worked well for exploring Carhuaz, the Cordillera Blanca, and nearby places. I slept really well thanks to the comfortable bed and pillows, and the shower had some of the best water pressure I’ve come across while traveling. The complimentary breakfast was fresh and tasty, with yogurt and locally grown fruit. I also liked the hotel’s own fruit and vegetable garden, which gave the place a distinctive, authentic feel.

The main square is just a short walk away. Staff were attentive and helpful throughout, and my room was spacious, with a big bed. Breakfast was great, especially the avocados and other fruit grown on the property. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

Carhuaz is a small, authentic town, and it’s much closer to Huascaran NP than Huaraz. We used the hotel as our base for a few days of hikes there. The hotel arranged taxis for our hikes and airport pickup, which was handy, since ATA airport is only a 10-15 minute drive away. We were treated like family. The food was excellent, with a big breakfast and a great a la carte dinner. Our room was comfortable and quiet.

The food here is excellent, with lots of variety and flavor. It’s also very conveniently located, less than 20 minutes from the airport. The rooms are big, cozy, clean, and had everything I’d expect from a nice hotel. Pretty much the best hotel in the city. Highly recommended!

The garden is beautiful, and the place is very clean. Everyone was friendly and engaging, and the service was better than I’ve had at any five-star hotel. I’m not sure why this is only a 3-star hotel. I’d definitely recommend it.
