The owners were warm and welcoming, and the animals on the property were a nice touch: an alpaca, geese, and rabbits. The location was quiet and peaceful, while still being convenient for hikes and other outings. We stayed at Runaway Hotel in Acopampa for three nights in January, and the weather was lovely. The surrounding mountain views were beautiful. Our room was simple, comfortable, and well kept. We appreciated having a kettle with hot water for coca tea, which helped us adjust to the altitude. The food was very reasonably priced, and we especially enjoyed the homemade bread at breakfast. We really enjoyed our stay and happily recommend the hotel.

The Runaway was the highlight of our stay in Ancash. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the fantastic hosts were always available with information about the area and local hiking and trekking options. We can’t wait to return.

The breakfasts were really good, with fresh baked breads, fruit, tea, and coffee. We ordered omelets each morning and they were delicious. We loved sitting on the balcony, sipping tea, taking in the mountain view, and watching the animals below. The owners of this peaceful place are truly wonderful. They were helpful, generous, and caring, even ordering pizza for us and calling us a taxi.

The owner, Dennis, is very welcoming and happy to share useful information about the area. He works really hard to make Runaway the paradise it is. The rooms are comfortable, the food is delicious, and the mountain views are great. I had a wonderful stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone, especially if you’re looking for a slice of mountainside paradise.
