JW Marriott Hotel Lima

The ocean view room was a great choice, especially at sunset, with the sun setting to the west. We came to Lima after Cusco and were very glad we stayed at this hotel in Miraflores, one of Lima’s best areas. Across the street there’s an outdoor walking mall with restaurants looking out over the Pacific. The hotel was incredible, clean, and very friendly. The concierge helped with all our questions. There’s a spa, gym, and restaurant, plus a sushi bar that opens at 3:00. We liked the sushi, but not the buffet at the other restaurant, so we ate at the market instead, where the sandwiches were fresh and they had coffee and tea. The one drawback was the airport drive, about an hour. We’ll stay here again next time we’re in Lima.

Suite 2203, where I was upgraded as a Marriott Ambassador, had amazing sea views from the 22nd floor. I’ve stayed at JW Marriott hotels around the world, and this is one of the best. The location is hard to beat, across from the mall and close enough to walk to lovely streets for safe exploring. The 24th floor Executive Lounge has great views and breakfast, and the staff there are friendly, attentive, and professional. Peruvian snacks like chips would be a nice addition. Thanks to Alexis and Manuel at the front desk for their warm, professional service; Sebstiena and Hector, chef at the sushi bar, for one of the best sushi meals I’ve had outside Japan; and Omar at the swimming pool for being so friendly and attentive. Beautiful views, great dining, and excellent service made this a fantastic stay.

The room was a highlight, with a full ocean view and lovely sunsets. It also seemed recently renovated, from the fresh look to the new scent. The gym is well equipped and large enough for hotel guests and outside users, and although it’s open to external guests, that didn’t affect our workouts. Breakfast tasted good, though we thought a hotel this size could offer more variety or rotate the options more. The lounge was a nice perk, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, which you don’t often find at other properties. Larcomar is right across the street, with uninterrupted ocean views. We were puzzled by the different ways water was provided. There were glass drinking water bottles in the room and dispensers on our floor and in the gym, but the restaurant used plastic bottles. It seems like the property could simplify this and get rid of single-use plastic bottles altogether. This hotel was one of the real highlights of our trip, a hidden gem in Lima.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the staff were attentive and well trained. Cleanliness and service were excellent, and the restaurants had a great selection with personal attention throughout. Sebastián looked after us at breakfast and kept track of what we needed and preferred. I’d recommend it 200% for a pleasant stay in Lima.
