Casa de la Gringa Mountain House - Hostel

The setting is gorgeous, tucked into the mountains but only a 10-minute drive from Cusco. It felt far from everything while still being close to the city. Evenings around the fires, good conversations and the sense of community made the stay feel like a dream. Leslie’s welcoming energy, the land she’s created, the staff, the food and the care throughout all felt deeply intentional. Amrit’s journey was profound, with powerful insights, healing and inner work. I’m grateful for it. For anyone wanting to sit with San Pedro, this felt like a safe, caring and supportive place. The two dogs here are part of the family and always happy to spend a moment with you. The place has such a loving, thoughtful energy, and Leslie has created a peaceful haven where you can just let go and be yourself. I joined the San Pedro ceremonies, guided by Leslie and her son, for an incredible plant-based experience. The gardens and rooms brought me so much peace and joy. There’s nourishing food, cozy rooms and kind people helping run the retreat. Everything made my time here feel heartwarming and full of love. Five stars don’t feel like enough. Pure magic.

The garden is magnificent and full of flowers, birds and so many hummingbirds, with views of the mountain and temple. I felt safe and cared for from the moment I came through the gate. The people, ceremonial space, my room and the dogs all added to that feeling of ease and love. Thank you for holding space. I’ll definitely return and recommend it.

What stayed with me most was the genuine care. Love for the guests seemed to run through every part of the stay, and it brought together some fantastic people I’m glad I met. Lesley, Simon and Mark have built a beautiful community around their place. The grounds are clean and well tended, with a great garden and social area beside a huge stretch of mountainous terrain. The location is beautiful, and the food was great too. Staying at Casa De La Gringa was a unique, lovely experience that exceeded my expectations and became one of the highlights of my trip in Peru.
