The service was great, and the area is quiet, about a 15 minute walk to the main plaza. It's a cute hotel with nice rooms at a very affordable price.

We stayed for 5 nights and really enjoyed it. The bed was comfortable, and the basic rooms were clean. They gave us fresh sheets and towels every day, and breakfast was great.

Scam alert, be careful. They cancel your reservation at the last minute, blaming something like “credit card refused,” then try to move you to a same-price or more expensive, lower-quality hotel that isn't listed on Booking.com. This lets them avoid Booking's fees. Some employees also seem to be involved with local pickpockets, so be careful when leaving and watch to see if anyone follows you. Friends of mine working at Booking.com’s Amsterdam office warned me about this kind of scam, which is how I figured it out. It seems surprisingly well organized. If they honor your reservation, it may be because you paid the highest rate possible. Not all staff are involved, but some clearly are. Stay alert. The attachment shows the pickpocket who followed us.

The beds were very comfortable, it was clean, and breakfast was decent. But the staff were unfriendly, clueless, and unhelpful, and reception was often unattended. We left our bags before our flight home, then waited 30 minutes for someone to open the door when we came to collect them. I had to shout over the next door hostel's wall because the Casa Fierro staff wouldn't answer. The luggage storage door was unlocked and open, so anyone could have gone in and taken our things. There was also shouting in the street at night, and the area felt quite dangerous. It's okay if you need somewhere cheap, but go elsewhere if you want decent service.
