The rooms are basic, but fair for the price, and you can leave your backpacks there while you go on multi-day excursions. The welcome was really warm, and there was always hot water from the gas system. I'd happily stay again.

The owner is glad to help with advice and practical things, which makes this a good base for excursions. It's an unassuming hostel in the old center, and you can walk to Plaza de Armas. The thick, nearly meter-wide walls and low doorways are a giveaway to the building's age. A restful place to come back to.

The shared bathroom was rough in the cold, but I knew that going in. The location is handy, just a few meters from the central market and Praça das armas. The people were thoughtful, and I'd stay here again. I liked it a lot.
