Arrieros Hostal

Definitely recommend this place. We stayed at three hostels in Cusco, and this was the best. It’s close to San Blas square and about a 10-minute walk to plaza de las armas. The owner is a really sweet, lovely lady, and you can book reasonably priced tours through them. Laundry is available too, at a good price and with good service. Clean, warm, and cozy, and the first place where we didn’t freeze at night. They have hot water.

I only booked one night and wound up staying for two weeks. Ana and the staff were so hospitable that I felt like part of the family, and I already miss the place. The rooms were very clean and well furnished, each with its own bathroom. There’s a lounge with panoramic views of Cusco, lovely rustic decor, and the location is right at the Plazoleta de San Blas, two minutes from the San Blas Market. It’s a cheap, relaxed hostel with a friendly, cozy atmosphere and a wild twist. While I was there they held an event with free té piteados, and they said they put on little events like that now and then. Definitely recommend!

We used Cusco as a base and came back a few times, so we ended up seeing a few different rooms. It was freezing, and one room smelled like cat pee, though the rest was fine. All the rooms are downstairs, so don’t expect much light or a view from your room. The breakfast tables do look out over the rooftops, and reception has a nice view. It’s a decent, affordable hostel close enough to the center. Go for the pizzas and the view from reception.

The hosts were really personable, and we had a great time here. It’s a very nice hotel with a great view from the room, a good location, and a very cheap price.
