The people were friendly, depending on who you met, but that was about it. The shower had lukewarm water and barely any pressure. The bathroom had mold and chipped paint throughout. Breakfast was just a dried egg and bread, with no fruit or anything else. The room light stopped working. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The welcoming service was good, and it was quiet, cheap, and in a good location. But the rooms weren’t very clean, and the bathrooms looked dingy. The bathroom by the kitchen and lobby was gross, with no running water. I tried to wash my hands in the kitchen, where dishes were piled up, but there was no water there either. Maybe it was a midday thing, but it was concerning from a staff sanitation standpoint. Someone on staff had to get water and soap for me from another room.

We had a good stay. The room was fine for the price, and the host was warm and friendly. When we arrived he gave us coca tea, then helped look after our luggage while we went to Machupicchu.

My friend and I had a wonderful stay. The family-run place felt welcoming, with the owner treating guests like family and being especially kind and helpful. Breakfast was fresh and tasty, the rooms were comfortable, and the location was terrific, right across from the market and close to central Cusco.

We stayed six nights and would definitely recommend Luis's hostel. The room was spacious and clean, with a roomy bathroom and warm shower. Luis speaks English and was a great help: he arranged two excursions for us and found a mechanic for my motorbike. You can park a car or motorbike on site, and it's about a 10 minute walk to Cusco's main square. Marc and Jacek
