Hotel El Mirador de Santa Ana

The only real drawback was the hill. Walking back up to the hotel at night could leave you a little breathless, but being so close to the center when heading downhill made up for it. The two female attendants were always there to help, and the kitchen and room were very clean. Incredible service. Thanks, see you again.

Our money went missing during our stay, and we were refused access to the camera footage. The hosts gave strange excuses, and we felt they were lying. We left the building right away without our money. They also made us pay part of the upcoming night. It was a horrible experience during our holiday. The place is far from the city center and uphill, too. I'd stay closer to the center, where it feels safer. If the host responds by denying this, please send the camera images so you can prove me wrong. Thank you.

I booked a room a few days before arriving in Cusco. They waited until I got to the hostel at night to tell me they were overbooked, then sent me to another place that was much less nice for the same price. They left me there with the woman who ran it. They had my contact details and could have told me earlier. I don't trust them, and they don't seem to care about you. Don't come here.

We had booked the “chalet” through Expedia at double the price of the smaller rooms, expecting what was shown online. Instead, it was filthy, had no windows, and felt like a dark dungeon. The comforter was covered in old stains, and when we removed it there was lots of hair in the bed. The bathrooms also had hair and soap scum. The room was very cold, and heating cost 20 soles per day. No breakfast was included. We called Expedia to say the room had been misrepresented. It was already midnight, but the rude receptionist came into our room while we were in pajamas and argued with us. She said the stains and hair were from “washing” it. Fortunately, the manager spoke with her the next morning and we were able to leave after paying for just one night. We only wanted a room that matched the pictures. Beware of the “chalet” room, it's more expensive than the small one and filthy.
