Hotel Katari At Plaza de Armas Cusco

The location is great, and there was a nice sofa area outside our room. We stayed twice, once before MP and once after, and the rooms varied a lot. Our first room had a large king bed, but our adult children got a dark, dingy room with no outside window. On the second stay we had a dark twin room with windows only onto the corridor. Some rooms apparently have no outside windows at all. In our first room, the bathroom drains smelled awful, and there was no hot water in the morning. Breakfast was basic but good enough. There’s no free bottled water in the room, though reception would refill our bottles with filtered water from a staff-only area. It’s an average mid-range hotel, and what you get depends on the room. It’s okay at a good price, but the advertised $140 for a small double or twin is way overpriced.

The location is great, right next to the plaza de armas, and our room was clean and spacious. The staff were amazingly kind. A very good hotel, highly recommend it.

The service and location were great, but our room looked much older than the photos. Other guests wondered if there was a difference between the main and side buildings. We were also disappointed by breakfast. The buffet was replaced with an option to order two small portions, such as scrambled eggs, toast with avocado and egg or fish, tiny pancakes, or pancakes. We had to fill up on the bread and jelly that were still offered as a buffet. The buffet was what we’d been excited about and why we’d cancelled the hostel we first booked. Please bring it back. The portions are too small, and service takes 30-45 minutes.

The location was excellent, but our room had no natural light and felt musty and damp. There was a noisy dehumidifier in the room, and although it was clean, the photos didn’t reflect the wear and tear. Service was basic, and they ignored my partner when she asked for help. I couldn’t understand the high ratings.
