Inkayra Hotel

I really liked how clean the place was, and the price felt fair. Breakfast was offered to every guest, and the water pressure and temperature were just right. The only snag was reception: there was hardly ever anyone there, so I had to wait or call to get someone to open the hotel door.

The place is what you'd expect for the price. I liked the shower best, with strong pressure and genuinely hot water. Breakfast was eggs, bread, butter, jam and tea. Our room was very cold, though, and there was a lot of noise all night from other guests ringing the entry bell. Getting inside was awkward too, since you have to buzz and can wait quite a while for someone to come down. On arrival the floors were filthy and there was rubbish in the bathroom, but room service cleaned it the next day. The neighborhood seemed neither the best nor the worst.

The internet was phenomenal, the fastest I came across during my time in Peru, and breakfast is included. The building itself is very old, though, and the walls are thin enough that you hear everything around you. It's close to the train station for Machu Picchu. There are also very few electrical outlets in the rooms.

The staff were nice and the place was clean, but it's in an unattractive area that felt unsafe at night.
