JW Marriott El Convento Cusco

The location was great, just a block from the main square, with plenty of restaurants, little convenience stores, and souvenir shops nearby. The service also stood out from arrival until we got into our car for the airport. Evelyn at the front desk made sure our kids would always remember getting to pet the alpaca in the courtyard. The building and grounds are stunning, especially the architecture and atmosphere of the courtyard. Our room was spacious, clean, and quiet, even though it was near the elevator and its window looked onto the courtyard. Breakfast had lots of options, and staff brought coffee and cleared plates quickly. It was the best buffet we had across four hotels in Peru. The staff made the whole experience feel top level. I can’t say enough good things about them.

The concierge was great at arranging local tours, restaurant bookings, and transportation. There was a spa on site, and the restaurant was one of the best places to eat in Cusco. Tea was available in the lobby throughout the day. The hotel is two blocks from the main square, where you’ll find the cathedral and a Starbucks. People were making textiles in the courtyard, and one of them had a baby alpaca guests could pet and photograph. I was doing a 4-day Inca trail hike to Machu Pichu, and the hotel kept my luggage there until I got back. The building itself reminded me of a castle, and the staff and service were unmatched. I didn’t know where to stay in Cusco, so I’m very glad we ended up here. I’ll stay here again next time and highly recommend it.

The rooms and property were spotless, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Being close to everything in Cusco was ideal. I especially loved the morning yoga, pisco class, sauna and spa, pool, breakfast, and pisco sours at the bar each night.

Sebastian deserves a special mention. He came to our room to help with minor medical issues that required oxygen because of the elevation. He was attentive, professional, kind, and punctual, and deserves all the praise. My girlfriend and I stayed here during a longer trip around Peru. From the front desk to room service and everything else, the staff were terrific and incredibly accommodating. It was an excellent hotel and one of my best experiences with JW Marriott. I’d highly recommend this location.
