Niños Hotel Meloc

We stayed at Ninos Hotel Meloc twice with our group of five, before and after going to Machu Picchu. It’s a quaint, cute hotel with a beautiful courtyard and a nice cafetin for coffee, tea or meals. The smoothies and milkshakes were delicious, and the dining menu was in both Spanish and English. The building is a bit old, and the wooden floors creak, but my family thought that added to its charm. The beds are comfortable, though really better suited to one person at a time. You may wait about five minutes for the shower water to heat up, then it’s very hot and enjoyable. The young staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly, and quite fluent in English. It’s about a ten-minute walk from downtown Cusco. My family also really appreciated that the hotel supports local children.

I was grateful to be part of the journey at this hotel, which really has a soul. The owner also runs an NGO that feeds underprivileged children, and the hotel offers an organic breakfast. It’s in the center of Cuzco, in a charming old villa. Amazing place.

We stayed five nights with our children, who are 15 and 12, after arriving around 8 am. They checked us in early and got the room ready while we had breakfast in the hotel cafe. The clean rooms have comfortable beds. There was no hot water early on the first morning, but it was back by late morning and we had no more trouble after that. The staff couldn’t have been friendlier or more attentive. We ate breakfast there every day, and had dinner there one night when we were too exhausted to go out. All the meals were delicious and well prepared. Our daughter also got a massage at the hotel. At checkout, the meals and massage were all on one bill, and it was incredibly affordable. We’d highly recommend Hotel Ninos Meloc for families. Our only regret was not staying longer in Cusco.

The little restaurant is amazing, with the best pumpkin soup I’ve ever had. The courtyard is beautiful, and the staff are friendly. Hotel Ninos is a real gem.
