Pumas Cusco Hotel

The location made getting around easy: it’s close to San Blas market, restaurants with healthy options, a clean gym, the collectivo vans for Urubamba and Pisac, and Plaza de Armas. Taxis were easy to find, and the neighborhood felt safe. Susan and the staff welcomed me warmly and even helped carry all my luggage up to the top floor. Maria’s breakfast service was lovely, and I was happy with the comfortable bed and bedding and the hot water. I’d seen an older review about visitor restrictions, but in 2025 Susan kindly approved my visitors and said there was no problem. They all made an effort to ensure I enjoyed breakfast and was satisfied with my stay.

The breakfast was really poor: cold coffee, dry, cold bread, and they acted like making an omelette was a favor. The room wasn’t clean either. There was hair on the bed and in the shower, and after I asked the next day for fresh sheets, I couldn’t tell whether they had changed them. The cleaner came in without knocking and didn’t empty the trash. The shower needs a much better clean. At 80 per person per night, there is hot water, but the window doesn’t seal properly, so outside noise comes through and I had to sleep with earplugs. I’d say save your money and stay somewhere better.

The room was tiny, and the window faced the inside of the hotel, so every word people said carried through. They hadn’t left us toilet paper, and there was soap from other guests in the bathroom. If this is what counts as a hotel room, I don’t want to go on holiday again. Horrific.

The rooms are a little small and the place doesn’t look like much from outside, but it’s a pretty, simple hotel. I’d give it full stars for how clean it was and for the service. There was good hot and cold water, plus a full breakfast buffet with eggs. A good fit for budget-conscious travelers who want somewhere clean and comfortable close to the plaza.
