Ceiba Tops Lodge

Being next to the Amazon river is the big draw here. For a lodge in the jungle, having AC and hot water in every room makes the visit so much easier for modern travelers. Without it, staying in a tent amid the heat, damp, bugs, snakes and other animals, with little clean water or hot food, would be a much tougher experience. Some of the packaged tours felt too commercial and staged, I agree. Still, our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. We even had electricity and WiFi in the middle of the Amazon ❤️

At Ceiba Tops Lodge, the wildlife really does come right up to the lodge, and I could hear birds outside my window. I spent two magical nights there, waking up to rainforest sounds and taking a swim after hot, humid tours. Edwin, my guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and made the experience feel personal. I was surprised by how comfortable it was in the middle of the Amazon: air-conditioned rooms, hot water, electricity and Wi-Fi, all alongside the surrounding jungle. It gave me the nature, comfort and adventure I was hoping for. If you want to see the Amazon with a little comfort, this place is perfect.

The staff were outgoing, and I enjoyed the pool. The rooms have AC and hot water, while the lounge and dining hall are open to the natural air behind screens, with thatched roofs. We had no insect problems, though of course we took proper precautions ourselves. This feels close to nature without being too much for most people. The food did get repetitive after a few days. There’s only so much Dorado you can eat.

Ceiba Tops feels like an oasis in the jungle. We had a wonderful guide, and the people were friendly and gave great service. There’s a pool, plus a shared lodge with screens, fans and a bar. The rooms are comfortable, with AC and fans.
