We chose the 1 night, 2 day trip, and it was disappointing. Piranha fishing was fun, but a lot of the activities felt like time fillers. We did the same walk around the camp grounds 3 times. We were meant to see and swim with pink river dolphins, but didn’t see any. The outing was just a boat ride, 10 minutes sitting in silence, picking up a local and taking them to the village, then returning to camp. It felt half-hearted. The itinerary was changed several times too, which was confusing and unprofessional. After the trip, we looked up some of the environmental information our guide had given us and found that some of it was false. That was very disappointing. The lodge was extremely dirty. The carpet and sheets were unclean, the pillow was rock hard, and I even got bed bugs. It also felt like they were trying to get every bit of money from us. Our guide came by a day early to tell us there were no ATMs at camp, making it clear they expected us to have enough cash for a tip on top of an already expensive excursion. We were charged $7 each to use a flashlight for 2 hours. Once we tipped, their attitude toward us changed drastically. On our last day, they asked us to fill out a review, but the guide handed it to us and could see what we wrote. I felt put on the spot and uncomfortable giving an honest review. It seemed designed that way on purpose. I did mention the bed bugs, but nobody acknowledged it or tried to fix the problem or make amends. Being in the Amazon jungle was great, but I didn’t enjoy this trip and wouldn’t recommend it. The whole experience felt exploitative and unprofessional.
