The bed was comfortable, and having hot water felt like a real treat after staying somewhere rural with an outhouse and hardly any running water. This is a suitable place to stop on the way, and the staff seemed friendly, though I barely spoke with them. Noise was the main problem. Street sounds and music kept coming during the day, and some music carried on all night. I couldn't tell where it came from. The windows let in both the noise and the cold. Portable heaters were left in the corridor for guests to use. The towels seemed worn, thin, and dingy. The room decor and carpet are dated and could use a refresh.

Our family had stayed at other hotels in Juliaca, but Royal Inn was easily the best of them. It's a lovely little gem, with warm rooms, plenty of hot water, and customer service that was incredible.

The rooms were clean, but this wasn't comfortable for a longer stay. There was no closet, heat, or hot drinks, and nobody helped us with our bags when we arrived at 10 pm. I actually prefer older staff, but these folks weren't more attentive or helpful than at other hotels, just slower and less cheerful. I asked twice for a space heater, then three times before I got one that worked. Even though we sent an email well in advance, written out by a native Spanish speaker, not all our rooms were ready. Breakfast at the attached restaurant had only three options and was very minimal for the price. Hotels in this price range usually offer a buffet. They've been around a long time, and after several trips to Juliaca we haven't found much better, so we'll stay in Sicuani or Puno for more comfort at a better price.
