Che Lagarto Hostel Lima

Some rooms are okay, but others have rock-hard beds, poor airflow, or barely any space. The furniture looks worn, and the place isn't especially clean. At times it gives the impression that the owners don't really care.

The location was the one part I liked. Being near John F. Kennedy park meant I found my favorite business in Lima, Lima Bike, and El Malecon was an easy walk too. Each guest gets a locker, though you'll need to bring your own lock. The rest of the stay was a letdown: the bathroom was pretty dirty, and during my three days there, the hot water was out for two days and all water was off for one. I'm not sure the hostel was responsible for that. I also missed having a proper shared sala for meals, drinks, or hanging out, like I've had at other hostels.

The staff were great, apart from Juan, who works the night reception and was unfriendly to everyone. The location is great, and the pisco sours were amazing. Hot water takes a little while, but it does come.

I was really disappointed. It was nowhere near as clean as the website made it look, and I wouldn't recommend staying here. The Marriott isn't expensive, and I think it's worth the money.
