Lima Central Design Hotel Spa & Club

We paid $94 usd total, and for that price I expected a much nicer hotel. The room was bare-bones, with no air conditioner and just one tiny fan, so it got extremely hot and was hard to sleep. The spa bath was nice, though its headrests were broken, and a toilet seat in the bathroom was broken too. Those are small things, but we found a 4 star hotel for half the price with much better service and facilities.

The staff were fairly friendly and helped when we had questions, but I can’t recommend this hotel. The rooms felt stuffy and damp, and washing was miserable because the water pressure was weak and the temperature swung between scalding and cold. We barely had cold water, while friends in another room had hot water. There was no ventilation in either the main room or shower. The bathroom had a small window but no fan, and the main room only had a window. Opening it meant dealing with monstrous street noise, even on the 8th floor. There was no air conditioning or way to adjust the temperature. Our room was cold, yet as humid as a hammam. The lobby smelled of mold, though the rooms didn’t seem to. With no ventilation, it feels like that could change over time. Every towel was old, dirty, and stained, even after washing. One looked as though it hadn’t been changed after the previous guests, and I’ve never seen hotel towels this disgustingly stained. There was no duvet cover, just a sheet and a blanket that seemed unstained, but after everything else I felt disgusted. There was no full-length mirror or suitcase stand, though the suitcase could go in the closet.

The reception was neither bad nor especially proactive, just neutral. I’d give the location and spacious rooms with all the amenities 4 stars. My TV only had cable, and the signal was gone the next day. There was no hot water in my shower either. I tried both sides of the single-lever mixer and let the water run for a few minutes, but still had to shower cold. My colleagues’ rooms didn’t have that issue.

The room cleaning and breakfast were a real plus, and the place felt clean and safe. It’s centrally located, with several public transport options, shops, and restaurants nearby. Highly recommended. I’ll come back whenever I’m in Lima.
