Thunderbird Hotels J.Pardo

The best thing about J and A classic hotel, also known as Thunderbird Hotels Pardo, is its spot on a main street in the heart of Miraflores. There are plenty of places to eat nearby and lots of nightlife. Our five-day stay was comfortable and enjoyable, and although there are fancier, more established five-star hotels in lima, this location keeps this one in the running. My girlfriend and I booked the senior suite. It was a good size, with a great view of the city. It was fun to sit on the bed and watch parasailors drifting by in the distance. The bathroom had a jacuzzi tub, which was a nice way to end the evenings. Breakfast was lacking, though the tea and coffee helped get the morning started. I wouldn’t honestly call it a five-star hotel right now. With a good investment in renovations, it could get there.

Friendly service, on-site parking, and a restaurant were all useful, and I appreciated having a microwave and refrigerator. The room was large, but the carpets were very dirty. Charging devices was awkward too: of the two easy-to-reach outlets that didn’t require moving furniture, one was in the bathroom and labeled electric razor only, and the other was by the minibar. Breakfast came with the stay, but wasn’t anything special. The hotel sits on a busy avenue in noisy Lima, so traffic could be heard in the room. Turning on the window AC made it sound like white noise, which helped. I personally wouldn’t call this a five-star hotel.

I was so disappointed that I checked out early and booked somewhere else. The place smelled old and water-damaged, the elevator made strange noises, and the bathroom had no door. Breakfast was awful. When I asked for my money back, they made excuses and blamed the bank. For some reason I couldn’t leave a review on booking.com after checking out. Don’t come here.

We were so glad we switched here after cancelling our second night at Black Llama hostel because it was terrible. We’d never had such a big room. The rooms are older, but built with great materials, and the door was solid hardwood. There was a fridge and two bathrooms, and the shower pressure was really good. We slept like babies, with no street noise. We highly recommend it.
