The beach is really close, only about 20 meters away, which was great. The room was less impressive for the price: it had neither AC nor a TV, while other hotels nearby offered both for the same amount. Breakfast comes with the stay, but it’s not a buffet, and they charge extra for anything beyond what they serve.

I’ve stayed at Bungalows Playa Blanca four times, and the earlier visits were great. This time the place seemed poorly maintained, and it has new owners. The lunches were poor, the hotel was in bad shape, and the people running it were generally unfriendly and unhelpful. The service was appalling. Worst of all, I believe they acted corruptly: they charged more than $300 extra to my credit card, and after a month of complaints I still haven’t received a refund.

The pool was dirty, and the room had spiderwebs and a couple of spiders by the bed. They didn’t clean it on our second day, the doors wouldn’t close properly, and we had no water at night or throughout the last morning. The poor upkeep caused the hammock to break, and my father fell and hit his head. No one was at reception when we needed help, and the next day there wasn’t even a first aid kit.
