We spent about a week at Naylamp and found it good value. The rooms have the amenities you need, and there’s a small shop in front where you can get fruit, vegetables, yogurt, and drinks. There is a so-called private beach, but it was a bit dirty and hard to reach, so I wouldn’t recommend staying there. We went to beach restaurants instead.

It’s peaceful here, though a quick tuk-tuk ride will get you into town. The ocean views are stunning, and seeing whales was an added treat. The private beach was clean and calm, and the resident cats were adorable, each with their own personality. Esmeralda was especially kind, and the whole staff made us feel at home. The owners sorted out room issues quickly so we could stay comfortably. We loved our time at Nylamp, Las Pocitas. Great value and a really friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend Nylamp.

There were five dogs, by my count, and they made the place miserable. They barked at me when I came in, carried on outside my room while I was trying to sleep, and even climbed onto the bamboo roof above my room. The whole structure shook, and things fell on my head. The owner then wanted to charge me $40 a night for 11 days, in American cash, even though the AirBnB price for the room was $29. I left after three nights instead. He got less business and a one-star review. Good work. I went to Hospedaje La Quebrada instead. For $40, I was close to town and the beach, with daily cleaning, breakfast brought to a very nice room, and peace and quiet without dogs.

The hosts were so warm and attentive, and we felt comfortable there even without air conditioning. They provided fans for the hot nights, though sunscreen and bug spray are a must after dark. We loved the little terrace and the private beach entrance, just a gate and steps, then a two-minute walk to a gorgeous, quiet beach. The loungers and umbrellas can already be taken by earlier guests. The room felt small for three, but was fine since we spent most of our time on the beach. Kitchen gear was basic, and there are two storage units nearby. Mancora's center is about 15 minutes away, with motorbike taxis costing 10-15 soles. There are lots of very friendly cats around the pool and shared outdoor areas, and sometimes they wander onto your terrace, so this may not suit you if you dislike cats or dogs. I’d happily recommend it.
