Kaaro Hotel El Buho

Fran and Roger really looked after us throughout the stay, and Fran was a huge help when we had to reschedule a bus. We’re very grateful. The service was outstanding, and breakfast was excellent. We were completely satisfied and would happily come back. We’d recommend this hotel again and again, it was one of our best experiences! 🙌✨

Breakfast was excellent, and the señora running the kitchen was warm and efficient. The front desk could have been more welcoming, though. Sometimes even simple questions seemed to be a bother. The location is great, but room quality varies. I had to switch rooms for my final night, and the new one wasn’t as nice. If you visit Puno in winter (July-August), expect serious cold inside the hotel too. The small heater they provided didn’t give much warmth.

The room was big and the beds were comfortable, but there was an awful smell coming from the bathroom. Construction next door meant a steady banging started at 8am and woke me up, so there was no chance of sleeping in. The staff were absolutely lovely, and kept my luggage all day while I waited for my evening bus. Bring cash if you want to avoid the 5% card charge. That may be common across all of Peru, but the hotel and booking.com should really mention it.

We arrived in Puno around 6:30 am on the Peru Hop bus and came here just for breakfast. It was nice to find somewhere open that early, and the price was fine. The breakfast was really delicious. They made us omelettes too, and the cake was great.
